What size air line should I use for my air throttle on a MCI 9?

We used 3/8" DOT nylon tubing.  I know some that used 1/4". I think that Williams recommends 3/8, but I have heard that 1/4" helps reduce the throttle application lag.
When you run the line to the engine compartment, make sure you use equal lengths of tubing from the Tee to the air throttle actuator and transmission modulator.  Jack

I have heard various things. 3/8 from pedal to the tee and the engine but 1/4 from the tee to the trans. All 3/8 the whole way and all 1/4 the whole way. in the paper work I got from williams it said 3/8 od from pedal to engine and 1/4 id from the tee to the trans which if you look at it is all 1/4 id so that didnt make sense to me. mine is 3/8 od all the way and as Jack said from tee to engine and tee to trans need to be the same length.

I used 3/8" on my Eagle and it works great. I have driven it for about 2000 miles since the change over and have not noticed any lag. Just a leg that is not as tired. I hope to add a cruise soon to give my leg a real rest!!

About using 3/8" line.....make sure the air supply regulator is also 3/8" version to receive great flow along with the variable psi. Or you will have some delays.

tomhamrick ...perhaps already has that.
BTW... is your regulator is smaller than 3/8"?

Whatever, always willing to learn more.

Hey Jerry
on mine I used a Williams brothers regulator that is supposed to be for the air throttle. I dont have the part number in front of me but in the whopping 15 miles I have driven mine it works great.

hello   used 1/4 inch dot line for 8 years without a problem  but was warned to make sure that the lines from tee in the rear were the same length.   ie the line to the modulator valve and the throttle activator.
Also supplied it with air from the front tank without a problem.
But I would follow Williams guidelines.  I did not becauuse of ignorance at the time..

SO in my estimation the products are superior because they held up to my installation.
     Regards and happy bussin   mike

You all that have air throttle, do you guys have cruise too or is it just foot to the floor, five hours on end. I was just wondering if it was that big of a deal to convert to air (we have cruise).

Thanks in advance.

God bless,

John

John,
We have installed a Rostra cruise control, but have not got all the bugs worked out of it yet, so for now no cruise control. After driving with OEM throttle linkage on our MC-8, no comparison.  I can move and hold the air throttle with my little finger (but not while driving) LOL.  Biggest problem we have is that with virtually no back pressure, I tend to end up cruising faster than I want to.  Jack

My regulator is 3/8" also. I tried it a 70 lbs and at 90 lbs, but do not remember where I left it.  ??? I'll try to check the next time I fire it up.
