Does anyone know if I can run a Prosine 3000 inverter with no batteries? I want to leave the battery charger portion turned on to supply power to my 24 volt lights.
I know I will need to pull the fuse on my water pump as the manual is very clear there must be a battery in the circuit.
No, that won't work. Needs the battery for feedback to tell it how to regulate the charger.
I doubt it will even power up without batteries. My Trace won't.
I actually did this once for a little bit by accident, but I wasn't sure if it was good for the inverter. (I forgot to turn on battery breaker before turning battery charger on.)
I guess I'll need to find another way to light the coach while the batteries are out.
Just take a couple of your batteries and hook them together, and then connect them to the inverter leads with jumper cables or make up a temp wire to connect them. 10 ga is probably large enough if you're just running a few lights.
I have used a conventional bat charger like that and had no problem.
