Title: winter storage, battery maintenance and inverter
Post by: Tenor on September 28, 2008, 05:42:30 PM
For those of you who park your bus in the winter and have inverters with chargers, do you leave them plugged in for the winter and check the water periodically?

Thanks!

I did last winter for the first time, instead of shutting everything down and doing a monthly plug in.

There is more crap to clean off the positive terminals.

Probably healthier for the batteries to be kept snugged right up?

I'm still debating what I'm going to do this year.

happy coaching!

Tenor, I would use a battery tender a lot cheaper than putting time on your inverter you can replace a tender for less than a $100.00  you know the price of inverters       good luck

Jerry aka Sojourner gave me a Permatex product. This stuff is great. It eliminates terminal maintainance.  I try to sell everybody on it, I would be willing to do thier testimonial commercials for them!!!

Heck with the permatex, just pour a can of coca cola on the terminals (not diet)
It cleans everything and then the syrup dries out and leaves a protective film.
Cheap

That said, I'll admit I've never tried it myself. I have more than one buddy who swears by it tho...

Thanks for reminding me that I was going to get a tender - I just bought one of these:

Boogie - I have used soda to "clean" the terminals in an emergency being careful not to get it IN the cells and it works!
