HI: I just got a scissors lift, I thought that this would be ideal to work on the bus, It has 4 golf cart battery's which are in need of replacement, Here is what I'm thinking and need some help with, Is there anything that I can eliminate the battery's and just plug it in, It does not have to be portable. This has 4 battery's and is 24v.
It's possible, but unless you got very lucky at some auction, the cost of such a high-current supply would likely exceed the price of getting four new batteries.
If your bus system is 24V and you have a large enough battery bank, you could rig a plug-in line from them and bypass the lift's batteries. A relatively cheap gimmick, but don't forget to recharge. Keep in mind that the old batteries are probably also counterweights for stability -- if you remove them, replace the weight.
104, I used 2 grp 24 12 volt batteries when I had mine won't last all day but it works
Ebay Item number: 110292983650 has a good chance of working, but first you'll need to measure the current that your motors draw under load and make sure that 42 amps is enough. It's probably close...
I used mine all spring working on the bus, the batteries were old and I had to keep it plugged in with the charger on most of the time. What a pain constantly climbing up and down to move the cord and worrying about getting it pinched or tangled up on something. I finally broke down and went to Sam's and got four new golf cart batteries and then kicked myself for not doing it sooner. Bottom line is the cord is a pain in the but, you can get four new batteries for $240 and not have to rig anything up or think about the cord. Mine will run on a charge for several days with moderate use.
If you get new batteries you might want to keep the old ones so you can take the new ones and use them in the bus and put the old ones back when you a finished with the lift.
Just my $.0002 worth

I have a scissor lift also. Better than any ladder. I am in an area with lots of golf courses (Palm Springs). I found that electric cart repair shops have "pull outs" that are good enough for our use for $15.00 to $20.00 each. My last set cost me $80.00 for 4 and they have been in my lift for 2 years now. Do not use the lift without the batteries installed. They are necessary to keep from tipping over.
