Title: insurance
Post by: onrwey9 on September 16, 2008, 05:34:03 PM
Just a question about insurance in ontario canada. Seems my insurace co. have decided that they no longer want to insure bus conv. The co. I orginally dealt with were bought out by T.D. ins. & they do not do conv. period. Any of u bus nuts in ONT have any co. to recommend. I already have contacted Wayfarer in Beaverton Ont. &they require a safety &appraisal by a certified appraiser,so any suggestions would be helpful ?       thanks Gary

If you look through past threads, you will see several names of ins cos in the US like Progressive, GMAC, State Farm, etc.  I do not know if the same ones sell in Canada.  I believe that the Good Sam Club also functions there, and it is likely that they affiliate with some RV friendly company.

Gary,
I am presently insuring an MC9 in Ontario. It is licensed as a motor home. We use Nordique. I think it may be the only one insuring conversions in Ontario. No problem doing it though. I did have to get an appraisel done. The appraiser did not know much about the vehicle. He wound up asking me how much money I had in the bus and that was the agreed upon value. I hope this helps.

Gary

I got appraiser from the yellow pages. It was a province wide company with local agents. Don't remember the name, but if I dug deep enough I might be able to find it. As far as a safety goes, it already had been  done, so I don't know if it would have been a problem or not. My local auto insurance broker looked after the deal with Nordique.
