I put a Horton 2sp eddy current clutch (electrically operated) into my Crown 5 years ago.  I love it although after all these years I havn't noticed any difference in mileage. The Crown gets 10mpg no matter what I do...toad or not, loaded or not, hills or not, etc.
Overall though, for noise mostly, it was well worth it.
Cheers
