Title: toilet for MCI
Post by: jhaggerty on August 16, 2008, 11:14:50 AM
Hi Folks,

Some of you long time bus nuts can maybe answer my question. Is there a replacement toilet available that fits into the "hole" on the original MCI toilet. Mine just has the round tube going down to the tank. I was wondering if there was something I could use to make the whole thing a little more people friendly. I don't want to tear out the old bathroom just yet. I need all the room I can get.

Thanks ,

Jim

I do not know the size of the original hole.  If it is level with the floor, maybe is could take a standard flange and RV toilet.

Jim,
I do not know of any RV/Marine toilet that would fit in there .  The OEM toilet was open to the tank (no water seal) and was designed to be dumped frequently (daily, if not morre often).  As Doug said, you will probably want an RV type toilet with a water seal.  Jack

Hey sealing is NO PROBLEMO! I learned this trick from an ex-driver who rode with me once yrs ago when I was still driving MCI's for my uncle!
Take a large balloon and inflate it just a hair larger than the hole, but not stretched tight. Then place it in the hole which it should completely fill and have slightly more then 1/2 above the rim, then use the lid to hold it in place! Walla a sealed crapper and no more stinkies! LOL! Hey it works!  ;D  BK  ;D

take it out now and design the layout to suit the way you want to live rather than trying to design around an existing feature located in just about the worst possible position

What Tony said! 8)

The removal is a serious undertaking.  There are secret rivits that you access from outside to grind off.  You can really use the help and guidance of those here that have been through the "ordeal".  I have only read about it and it gives me pause. :o  Still, Tony is right. 8)

This is intended as encouragement. ::)
