Title: type of sikaflex to bond fiberglass to fiberglass ?
Post by: johnjem on August 06, 2008, 02:59:31 PM
To seal the new 35 foot roll of fiberglass i am using  from R&m to cover up all of the 8 side windows i will be using pop rivets to hold the fiberglass to the skin!and then reframing 4 new windows!what would u suggest using to seal top and bottom edges and around window openings<butyl tape/putty tape, silicone sikaflex,?
And on the top and bottom edges and all around the stock rivets is going to be 1/8 think of fiberglass resin,so the new fiberglass skin is going to lay 1/8 above the old skin and rivets witch i am leaving in place, because the interior is very well done and not even worth it to mess with stripping the inside i know this may sound like a hack job but i have really no shelter or $ to regut the bus!the inside of the bus is done up in all walnut,so what do u think? the reason i am doing this all 8 windows leak,p/o parked it 8 months of the year right next to salt water in mexico and rust in  is overwhelming,i do plan on cleaning and stoping the rust?? johnjem 4905

I would use sika flex 1A, great stuff, they use it on metal buildings and roofs, I seal everything with it and it is easy to find.  I get it from the lumber yard.
