Title: Alternator Question?
Post by: steve5B on August 03, 2008, 05:44:57 AM

  Hello everyone,

I noticed yesterday that I have what looks like a extra positive - negitive-ground post on my alternator.  If this so, could one

run a roof top AC ?  I ask this because , I think  ( Tom C. ) had mentioned  something like this in a previous post.  Tom, if this

wasn't you I apoligize.  Do you have to use the generator instead?

   Thanks in adavance!

Steve,

My Honda is set up that way but since I don't have a clue about what you have I suggest you get a service manual and see what it says. Many can be downloaded from the net.

Are you talking the bus alternator? If so, can you post a photo of the posts?

  Hey Bob,

Looks pretty close, the old plate states 275 amp!  Is that possible, I don't know much about it , but it is about 12'' --14'' long?

Steve,

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the house alt (Gen)?

Why do we call these house power units generators when they put out AC??

What year & make of your bus?  Being long design, could be the old style generator. A picture will narrow down the choices of brand & type.

Before anyone can tell you anything about what you have without you getting the wrong information  & damaging to the system.
275 amp and measure about 12" to 14" is a good start that it a 12v and possible old style generator? ? ? ?

Brand name? ?

A picture is like 10000 words being reduce into what brand & type you have before a better answer can be given.

Need help about getting picture posted? Or send me your picture, I can post it for you. Send a email to me via MAK
