Not enough info to help now.  Have you looked at the trans. with a prolink?  What codes are you getting?  What is it not doing?

getting codes 6212-retarder temp sensor failed, 6412-retarder modulation request sensor failed, 4523-open circuit h solenoid, 6611-sci engine coolant source fault. these all relate to the retarder, which I do not have. I have checked and rechecked the wiring- which I installed as per the wiring diagrams and cannot find any problems here. spoke to 3 different allison dealers in my area but no help

Sounds like the WTEC is programmed for a transmission with retarder.

When it can't find the retarder, the codes will really fly!

Dallas is right on.  You need to pull your ecu and have it reprogramed.  They need to put in a Motorhome program with no redarder.
You could talk to Gene at Reliable Transmission Service he can fix you up.  They are in Riverview FL and there number is 1-800-344-0485.  They can reprogram your ecu or just cut off the parts that you don't need.

these ecms automatically sense which options are in place retarder etc. they are not programed as such. it is called the autodetect feature

C-coop, How will the b-500 affect your rpms at 70 mph. It should give you better fuel milage. How expensive is the swap/ Marc

You can reprogram the ECU with a ProLink , if it has not been started 24 times.
What type of WTEC ECU do you have - WTEC 2 or WTEC 3??

You said that you needed help.  I know what makes a B500 work the two that I installed work great.  The name I gave you and free number is one of the best in the country.  If you don't want to talk to him I will give you one more.  Ted Keating  1800-997-4tkt  these two people have more info on the world transmission than most all of us put together.
Jack

You said the transmission was a rebuilt unit, you didn't say where the ecu came from.  The first world that I put in was a rebuilt unit, without a retarder.  The ecu that I used came off a b500 with a retarder.  I had to have the ecu re programed before it would work.  If the ecu has worked with a retarder and programed for one it won't autodect that it is gone.  Ted may be the first person to talk with, he has a better understanding of us busnuts that make this type of change.  He can also reprogram the ecu.

Lots of luck
