Title: Anyone have an online installation manual for Onan 7500 Quietdiesel?
Post by: gumpy on July 12, 2008, 12:59:18 PM
I bought a used Onan 7500 Quietdiesel. I'm trying to get it installed this week.

Does anyone have an installation manual online?  I'm hoping it will have proper dimensions for cutouts in the bay floor.
Onan doesn't have one online. They say to contact your dealer, or they'll sell me one for $12. Personally, I think that's
a bit greedy when they could make it available online for download with their operator's manual for free. It wouldn't cost them
anything.

I figure I can take the measurements myself, but if someone has the manual, it might make the job easier.

Hi gumpy,
If none of the resources provided by Gus and Richard prove useful, I have a paper installation manual for a 1996 7.5 KW Quietdiesel model HDKAJ. I would have to make a copy at the library and send it by snail mail. There are 18 pages plus front and rear covers. If interested contact me here or by e-mail.
Good luck, Sam 4106

When I installed mine I used the measurements in the manual to make a template out of some scrap 1/4 inch plywood, I laid this on the bay floor to mark it. This worked well except that some of the holes could be better sized. If I was to do it again I would rock the genset over to the side and make my own pattern, you would not need the book for this and I think it will work better. Good luck and let us know what you do!

Hi Charles,
Your idea of using a plywood template is excelent, but wihout using the book, how would you know the size and location of the six holes? Or. would you just cut one hole in the floor slightly smaller than the base of the generator? If you did that, wouldn't you sacrifice a lot of structural integrity of the floor?
Thanks, Sam 4106

Ed,

Can you email the original scan to me. That one is too small to read, and doesn't seem to be a way to enlarge it with detail.

Sam is trying to get a copy of the manual, but they're having computer problems, so not sure if it's
working or not. I could use this page this weekend to start making the template for cutting the holes.

I have the operator's manual, so I do have the fault codes.

thanks

Craig,
You well might be able to use the image above.  Highlight it by dragging your cursor over it, then right click on the highlighted image.  Select save & save it to a file.  Then right click on the saved file and open it with windows picture and fax viewer.  With this you can rotate it and expand it.  It's still a bit hard to read as the contrast is not great but it may give you what you need.

I just tried double clicking on the onanjpg portion of the attachment which let me open it up in a different file that I could then enlarge.( Nero photo snap viewer) Unfortunately is is so dim that even with it enlarged I could not read it.

Richard

Jerry we both must have been posting at about the same time. I found that by clicking on the little green paperclip Onan.jpg portion it allows doing what I believe you are suggesting.

You should now have a copy of the Installation Manual ;D
Take a look at the "High mount installation" it might make it even more quiet and keep from cutting the bay floor. ???
