Hello all
I know another thread is in progress about showers but I thought I'd start my own to suit my needs. Thanks in advance for any advise.
My problem is all I have in my coach now is a dinky little bath tube more suited for Umpa Lumpas from the Willy Wonka movie. It's like sitting in a laundry tub to bathe.
I would like to remove it and install a prefab shower that I can stand up in. The tub is too high off the floor to allow a person to stand. I am not sure either how a shower drain is to be set up in order not to smell the waste tank? Is it a water trap?
Where can I find a good source for such showers? The sites I have been too just don't illustrate them well enough for me to hit the buy button. I don't need gold plated fixtures.
Most pre-fab fiberglass shower/tub combos are too tall and or too big to easily
get into the bus through the door.
If you were lucky enough to find one of the 2-piece modules and could
be taken apart outside and reassembled inside you might have a chance.
One piece Home types are almost 7 feet tall 3 feet deep and 6 feet wide.
You might have to remove a windshield to get anything large inside.
Ask Nick about putting a large fridge in his bus....
The next issue would be how much room the shower/tub takes up.
You may want to have one customized to fit your available space.

Lowe's sells a 3 piece neo angle shower kit (Pan & 2 walls) as well as a glass shower door kit. I installed one in a 102A3. Top of walls had to be trimmed, but door fit without trimming. Check dimensions in your bus before purchasing. To prevent waste smells, install a P trap in the drain from the shower to the tank. The P trap keeps a layer of water to prevent the smells from coming up through the drain (this water may dry up during long term storage). Jack

That's just the kind of info I need. I will check it out, I don't mind cutting a splicing if needed.
Thanks
I'm with Jack on this one.
I used a neo angle shower base, make my own walls and used a standard shower door. I just discarded the neo shower walls and door because I would have had to trim too much and they had so much silcone on the rails, I couldn't get it all off. It really turned out pretty good for our application.
Our shower also has a p-trap like was suggested by Jack.
Good luck,
Paul
Our H model is taller than most so a full size neo-angle was not much trouble but this being our 2nd one and the first being an Eagle, that one was a lot more challenging. In wanting to keep the glass sides, I had to take the glass out of one side and shorten the frame. I couldn't find a source to cut or make a new piece of tempered glass so I opted for a piece of clear Lexan that I cut to fit my modified frame! It not only looked like new, it worked!
Did I mention I used duct tape in place of caulking? LOL Just kidding! That was for certain people that don't believe! :)

Thanks guys you've given me a lot of ideas and I've been looking into showers at websites. Now just to get the nerve to remove some walls and a tub. I have so much I want to do to this bus but one piece at a time I guess.
I had a full sized Neo-Angle 38 inch shower in my RTS, But they have a high ceiling. My MCI since I didn't raise the roof has the base for a 38 inch but I made my own walls with bathroom safe wall board from lowes. Kinda like a formica finish and sealed it all around with InstaGrab Bathroom adhesive.

I'll have to get the tape measure out and see what my options are. Some times I'm like a rudder on a duck's @$# I don't know which way to go.
Airbag, I put a 4 piece from Lowes inmy 5C. The roof has been raised also. I looked at a 1 piece firberglass also. Some showers the shower floor is not tight to the bus floor and I did not want to lose height. I had to fit this in and still need to caulk it. Tom Y
I put a one pc in mine ... but I brought it in through the bedroom window before the window was installed.

I installed a neoangle shower kit from Home Depot. I used a side aisle design so I would have enough height for the shower by putting it toward the center.
Unfortunately, the plastic panels you glue to the wall broke due to the shower head not being secured properly. I am going to dismantle the shower and replace the panels with FRP. The hole for the shower head in the plastic panel probably should have been made a little bigger than the hole in the plywood to prevent this.
Check out www.lascobathware.com. I have a Prevost and did not want to do a roof raise and with only about 76" max it was hard to find anything. I found this company on the interent, they are carried by Home Depot. Check out the home remodel line they come in two pieces and are 73 1/2 " tall with the nailing flange. Try looking at these two #1323-362P 32X36X72 or 1363-2P 36x36x72. HD usually only carries white but other colores can be ordered, 3 to 4 weeks depending on where you live. LOL. Steve C.
Hi Airbag
I looked and looked for over a year to find the company now supplying most of the S and S companies with shower enclosures. The link is www.seamerica.com. The main office is in California with supply in Elkhart Indiana. I spoke to Sandie Pico in CA. These units come with semicircular showers doors and one piece fiberglass shower wall unit. My doors are oil rubbed bronze, height is 68", 36" surround and was $570 shipped to me in Missouri. The separate single piece wall unit was $180 shipped to Missouri so I decided to build my own shower unit with a poured basin, tile walls. The beauty of these are that they are sized for motorhomes.
On the "J" trap that Jack mentioned to you, you can put it in the bay in front of your gray tank and avoid having to elevate the shower so far off the floor. Just another way to skin the cat.
Good Luck

Hi all,
I had a problem with my manufactured shower after it was installed inside the bus. Canadian winters are really cold and the walls cracked. I took it apart and out of the bus. I replaced it with good quality cushion flooring with PVC mouldings in the corners. The base and frames were ok. It's been good for us for 4 years now. Looks good!
Good luck!
