Title: MC9 RF Wheel Well
Post by: kwood on June 28, 2008, 01:02:29 PM
Hey guys,

How hard it is to remove the right front wheel well on an MC9?  Are the bolts rusted in and will break off?  Will I have trouble resealing it so I don't get dirt/water into the inner workings?  What should I be aware of?

Thanks,

Kevin

I had mine a part it wasn't hard most of the bolts twisted off, I found the insulation soaked and a lot of rusted steal I had to replace, It  wasn't a bad job just messy. Hope this helps Jason

Were you able to access the underside of the floor from the wheel well?  How did you seal everything up so it does not continue to rust?

Kevin,
I think that is going to be the only way to bolt down your copilot seat with the interior floor finished.  I did mine differently; while I had the floor out I welded a steel plate to the frame and then installed the floor.
After the floor went in I could just drill and tap the boltholes anywhere in that plate.

Attached are some pictures of under the floor in that area, you can plainly see the wheel well covers (steel over fiberglass) between the side wall and chair rail.

Kwood from what i remember yes you can access the bottom of the floor, after replacing the rusted steel and cleaned every thing up i used roofing cement in a calking tube to seal it up then put the fiberglass wheel well back in with ss self taping screws. Jason
