Title: 8V71 is finished
Post by: fraser8 on June 27, 2008, 10:40:41 AM
I needed a few exhaust gaskets, so while at the DD parts counter I asked about the proper engine color. Alpine Green I was told is the official color and they had lots. Here is a shot of the finished 8V71. That's done and it runs well and should stay clean until it's started. I've done the air bags, no air leaks other than the boggie axle, life's not perfect. We've now moved in and should have everything ready to go in a couple of weeks.

That doesn't look like any DD that I have seen. ;D ;D

Good job. Enjoy it before you start it.  ;)

Now it might run faster, don't ya think?

Hey that things gonna rust like an Eagle! Theres no oil all over it to protect it! LOL! (which is why Eagles rust so bad, had they been front engines instead of pushers they'd lasted forever! LOL!) ;D  BK  ;D

I started it up and went for a drive, it now has black rust protection on the important areas

Looks great, wow the eagles sure took a beating on this one lol, I'll have you know, my eagle doesn't leak any oil anymore (or any less lol) and as far as rust goes, it's an advantage in michigan, here you buy your plates based on weight, like getting an annual discount lol.
