Title: Jersey Round-up, October 13-15,2006, Missouri
Post by: Christyhicks on June 12, 2006, 10:00:12 AM
Well, it's settled, the New Jersey Roundup, open to ALL busses (and their subservient owners ;)), bus-enthusiasts and wann' be's, will be held in the Joplin, Missouri area on October 13-15th, 2006. Details are still being finalized, but we've already talked to 6-8 bus owners who have indicated they will be attending.  This will be somewhat of an informal gathering, no professional seminars, but lots of B.S.'ing around the campfire, which we all know is where busnuts excel!  ;D

We'd like ALL attendees to bring their pics of their conversion process, so that we can have a table of albums for people to peruse.   It's nice to see the completed coaches, but it's more fun to see the whole process!  We've got commitments from Eagles, GMC's and MCI's so far. . .and maybe a Flexible. . .need more, need more, need more!

Our own personal book, unfortunately, will be a bit small, as our 9 isn't very far along, but we'll be in the 4107, which had a very high quality factory conversion done in 1988.  We've got the Webasto, the air leveling system, etc., so it will be available for checking out, and for advice on fine-tuning the Webasto installation, which is a very basic setup right now.  You can also help us figure out what that funny switch is that won't let the generator start if it's in the wrong position!

Come one, come all! We'll be up on Thursday to set up, Friday evening we'll just goof off and talk, I imagine on Saturday, people will be going off to the Apple Butter Festival in Mount Vernon, to Colaw RV Salvage, or to the flea market and antique stores in Joplin, and then we'll probably do a potluck or giant chili pot Saturday evening.

We haven't settled for sure on the campground, as there are several from which to choose, so that info will follow shortly.  Mark your calendars and let me know if you are planning on attending 8), thinking about attending :-\, needing to be convinced to attend :-*, or all of the above.  :D  Christy Hicks

Christy,
Go ahead and add this to the calendar along with a contact number for those interested in attending.  You can add additional details as they become available.  Jack

Let us know the time and place for your gathering! ;D

We love Tennessee too. . . use ANY reason to visit Memphis we can! 8)  In fact, the only thing we didn't like about Tennessee was the state trooper who stopped us for lack of a license plate on "TempBus" when we brought her home in March :(.  He wouldn't believe that we bought it in Florida, even though the bus was titled in Michigan, and the way he looked at the interior, you'd have thought we had it filled with Illegals or something,  ;)  He questioned why, if we bought it in Florida, we were in Tennessee with it.  When I explained that there was just no way we could drive from Florida all the way back to Oklahoma without making a detour through Nashville and Memphis :D. . .well, let's just say that he saw no humour in that comment.  Since I had a copy of the bill of sale and a current insurance certificate listing the bus, along with other misc paperwork proving our story, he really didn't have much choice but to let us go on. . but he sure seemed to think we looked aaawwwwwffffuuuul suspicious :-\  Oh well, add it to the list of stories that happened that trip and it just makes good fodder for the fire.

We'll keep it in mind and, if we can, we'll try to come see you this fall also.  Christy

P.S. . . . you know, Missouri is soooo close to Tennessee. . . .so close. . . . repeat after me. . . so close. . .so close. . . so close. . .so close. . . .so close. . .
