mccarlk, I bought kits from Powerline Components before and had good luck they sell FP made by Federal. If you don't have the tools DD are not easy to work on, you need a ring compressor, head bolt guides to install the head,a piston pin retainer tool, a hand vacuum pump , a sleeve tool, and a good dail indicator gauge for starters   www.powerlinecomponents.com for parts
www.dieselenginetools.com for tools plus a good DD overhaul manual   good luck

If you do your own overhaul of the 8V-71, I HIGHLY recommend you have a certified shop or mechanic that is well experienced with 2 strokers to both size and fit your dry cylinder liners, and also to install the pistons in the liners.  Both have to have special tools, and alot of experience to know the right "feel" that the cylinder liners have to be.  If they are done right, you can have a 300,000mile engine.  If they are done wrong, like my engine was before I purchased it, you'll get maybe 50-60,000 miles out of it with cracked heads-since loose cylinder liners will not transfer heat properly-what happened on my bus.  Good Luck, TomC
