May want to limit cell phone use to essentials.  See below.

OK, so how do we use cellphones to extract hydrogen from water? (Now it's BR)

Actually, with all this free microwave energy floating around, there must be a way to use it.  We just don't know how.  There is a case being made that cell phones may be responsible for the disappearance of the honey bees  (but what are those signs that say, "So long and thanks for the pollen").  I do not know what is true, but will probably use an ear piece a lot more.  I'd rather cook my brain with bluetooth.  It's so much cooler.

I was curious about this so I checked Snopes.

http://www.snopes.com/science/cookegg.asp

It is down at the bottom of the egg cooking hoax page.

However, I would note that they only debunked it based on the source, the marketing dept. of a company that makes headsets for cell phones.  But the same points made in the egg portion of the snopes page would apply to the popcorn videos.  Just not enough energy to accomplish it.

Of course, it is helpful to note that even with microwave popcorn, they use foil in the bottom of the bag that heats up to pop the corn.  It isn't the microwave energy directly that does it.  So it is extremely unlikely that cell phones could do it no matter how much power they put out.

CNN just did a spot on this interveiwing the ad company.  The popcorn was NOT popped using the phones. They said they try new ads on Youtuibe and those that get a lot of hits become ads. They said they would not reveal how they made the popcorn appear to pop.  Jack

Yeah, I goofed on this one.  I should have read this link before posting it.  When I first watched the videos, I wondered how the people would have enough phones to do the experiment-- four for poppers and four more to call on-- but did not follow up with checking it out.  I guess I better check on that fabric-softener-in-the-radiator thing before I bite on that one too.

All that said, the jury is still out on the issue of whether extensive cell  phone use is harmful.  Studies have been done.  Some show no harm, others suggest there is harm in extensive use.  Now by extensive use, they tend to mean several hours per day with the phone next to the ear.  I don't know anybody that does that.  Those I know of that do use them extensively tend to use an earbud or other hands free setup anyway.

In any case, there are other good reasons to use hands free sets.

The only ones I know that use a cell phone constantly are the police in various jurisdictions.

It seems that just about every time you see one driving down the road, he/she has a cell phone up to his/her ear.

A great example for the young'uns who are told not to use the cell phone and drive. Not to mention the laws in various places.
