We got moved to B.C. over the weekend. Left Nipawin a little over a week ago, spent some time in the rain in S.W.Sask and then headed further west on the weekend. I don't think I have ever seen so many rental RVs on the road as we did coming west from Banff. The campground at Tunnel Mountain wasn't full but I was expecting it to be empty and it certainly wasn't empty. We didn't drive around much in the campground but it must have been 2/3 to 3/4 full and a lot of the rigs were rentals with Europeans in them. They must come here for the low season rental rates because you certainly don't see that many later in the summer.

If anyone is travelling on #1 highway between Vancouver & Calgary then stop in. We are in Whispering Pines campground, south of Sicamous, just north of the Mara Foodliner which is just past the south end of Mara Lake, about 15 miles south of Sicamous. This is a wonderful little campground but there's hardly anyone here right now. After the Calgary Stampede it usually fills up for a couple of weeks. Right now there's us, the camphosts and maybe 2 other occupied rigs plus a couple of seasonal rigs with nobody in them.

I have read that a lot of Europeans are flying to the US and taking advantage of the very good exchange rate.

Man, I'm drooling, ere I mean melting down here in south Tx. It was 100 in San Antonio today and the same for the rest of the week. I am envious for sure. What a nice looking spot you have nested in. It looks great. Enjoy!!

Looks like a great spot. Nicely sheltered, well treed.
Clear shot to the sky for internet and satellite TV, and a play structure if you are so inclined :) :)

There's a story there. We've been coming here for probably 10 years now, staying in 171 which is way over on the south side of the park with huge trees covering it and even bigger ones in the sites across the road to the south. I was pretty worried about where we were going to get a satellite shot and sure enough, we couldn't. But Sharon in her usual wonderful fashion juggled things around and got us into 56 on the north side of the park with a long shot across the green to the south.
Today we got the boat in the water and I went for a ski - oh man I am out of shape! The water is really high - we've never been out here this early in the year. The water level at this end of the lake will drop over 10 feet during the next 2 months. We went up the river today in 14' or more of water. By the first of August that will drop to less than 3' in some spots.
Bobofthenorth,
Your little world is the second one on my ist.
The first one is to get the bus finished to come for a visit.
Very nice place, a must do for sure.
I was born in Oregon and living in Texas is like another world to me.
Thanks for posting the pictures,
Paul

Great view out your window Gary. Absolutely we will call on the way through Vernon - we'll be going to Kelowna at least once and likely a couple of times. I don't think we have ever been down that stretch of 97 that goes through Oliver. We've been through Osoyoos but I think we came in from the west and that was years ago.
