Ok, here is a dumb question but I'm sure your used to getting dumb questions from me by now lol. A friend of mine is getting a new furnace, he has a fuel oil furnace and is putting in a natural gas furnace, he has a tank in his basement with about 100 gallons of #2 fuel oil in it left over from this past winter, he asked me if I had any use for the fuel oil for the bus. I know the legal implications of the fuel but my question is, would I need to do anything special to the fuel before putting it into the bus, I figure to filter it in case of water or sediment, interestingly enough, in this area, home heating fuel isn't dyed lol. This fuel oil is left over from an April delivery. Expiring minds want to know lol.
Just put it in the tank and drive.
yup, fill 'er up and go!
Home heating fuel up here is considered an equal to #1 diesel.
(if it doesn't come out of the same tank!)
happy coaching!

Might put a couple of quarts of engine oil in just to make sure. Good Luck, TomC
When I lived in northern VA I worked for a company that sold fuel we used the same stuff for heating fuel as we sold for diesel.
We would fill house tank then on to the tank they used for farm vehicles in the back.
Hey Cody, done deal! If you don't want it, can it up and bring it to me when come back to Florida!
I ain't skeered!:)

Cody, here in Ketchikan, we have diesel available at the bulk plant. The heating oil tank truck fills from the same line that goes into the vehicles, so I don't think that it's any different. Also, when we filled our boat and when we filled our heavy equipment tank, it was the heating oil truck that delivered the fuel.
The bulk plant only has five tanks, I think, and they cover all the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel with those tanks.
For what it's worth.
