Title: Air Wipers Noisy
Post by: Iver on June 08, 2008, 03:24:11 AM
First drive out in the rain the other day and I had occasion to use the wipers.  The adjusting dials were not very responsive but they did work.  Driver's side wiper not too noisy but the passenger side clunks noisily at each end of the travel.

I haven't really investigated the noise but is there some lubrication that needs to be done on these things??
My last coach (another MC9) had very quiet wipers.
                 Thanks, Iver.

Check to see if it is not makeing the noise when it Flips back ?
Try NEW blades first.. Check the Travel to see if it isnt going off the windshield..

Hi Iver,

On our 68 Eagle 01 there are grease zirks on each wiper drive. You might have some loose and/or worn linkages also.

Some times the the valve might be so worn that the air supply is not what it used to be.

HTH,

Paul

on my Eagle the passenger side wiper made all kinds of noise but didnt want to move. turns out all four bolts had fallen out. check and make sure none are loose letting the motor jump around. you should be able to take the line off and squirt a little light oil in it. that may let it move smoother.

It may be noisy because it is too fast, mine does this.

There is a tiny adjustment with a lock nut on the back of the wiper valve, very hard to reach. I think the lock nut is 5/16 and the adjustment is 9/32" but not sure. Once the lock nut is loose turn the adjuster CW to slow down the wiper max speed. Only do this on a wet ws.
