Title: Back Home
Post by: Blacksheep on June 02, 2008, 06:21:01 AM
Just returned home from a well deserved 4 day get together with other bus nuts. All I can say is WOW! we all had a great time and the bus just keeps getting better and better each time we run it! We had NO problems what so ever. we used very little fuel although we didn't go that far (about 150 or so miles each way) but the needle on the gauge DID move which was about an 1/8 inch. as for where we were?

If you haven't experienced "The Great Outdoors" campground in Titusville Florida, try and do so! Be sure to take a golf cart or you will be sorry! The place is HUGE!
We saw a LOT of wildlife up close and personal like the normal squirrels, armadilla's, and birds, including wild turkey's, but then we saw deer, and what I think was a bob cat or a Florida panther! It was about 4 feet long and not too friendly LOL! We had a regular visit with a gator that was about 8 feet long that lived in a culvert! Did I mention Deer? They were everywhere, even found them grazing by the pool! We made it a nightly thing after dark to ride around on the golf carts with a spot light looking for them.

Saturday we ventured into town via a friends rental car and viewed the shuttle launch! THAT was pretty cool! They estimated about 250,000 people were there. I believe it! It took us about an hour in traffic to get back to camp and we weren't that far away! People usually watch it on the TV but being there gave a different feel! Can't explain it!

Everyone in the camp was friendly. They held a movie that was VERY good on Thursday night and the parking lot looked like a golf cart rally! They have an RV shop on site and golf cart sales and service along with their own bank, hair salon, and post office! They offered tennis, shuffle board, and golf on what appeared to be a Beautiful course. Now I wish I had taken my clubs! Next time I will! They also have a work out room that is fully equipped to work off all the food that your bound to eat! Yea I could have used that room since I ate and ate and ate! Dogs, Brats, Chicken, and really thick steaks were the meats from the grill. Many different veggies and roasted corn on the cob also disappeared. Breakfast brought out scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, home fries, English muffins, pancakes, and biscuits! Fruits of choice were apples, and navel oranges! Snacks included the sweetest watermelon I have ever had along with French bread pizzas! LOL Home made cookies and cakes were found to fill the empty hole as well!

Yea we had a GREAT time to say the least! Got home, unhooked the golf cart trailer, parked the bus, hooked it up to shore power, unloaded the things we needed inside, and sat out back on the swing to wind down and relax! What a life! :)

Sounds pretty much like the normal day in the life of a busnut, right? lol  We'll have to keep talking about breakdowns and the price of diesel tho so they won't know how great we really have it. lol

Ace, last time I watched a launch it took well over two hours to get out.
I was on a SCUBA boat at West End Bahamas once and saw one...WOW!
I think the Florida Panther is pretty much down in the Everglades area...I think I read there are not any north of that...and not too many at that.  (Did I read there we only about 5 left?)
Thanks for the heads up on the campground.  It is a good hard days drive for us...perfect for going to the Keys!

Hey blacksheep, those cats are easy to tell apart, bobcat is smaller with a shot tail, panthers or mountain lion is about four feet long plus a tail of about three feet. Oh and yes they can be a little mean LOL.
