Title: OT Computer animation help
Post by: Len Silva on June 01, 2008, 05:28:16 PM
Hope you guys don't mind, I know there some experts out there.
Question: Is there a simple way to deconstruct an animated gif from the web into it's individual frames?

I've got Illustrator and Photoshop and Imageready.  I can make animated gifs OK but I would like to modify one I have found.

Thanks,

Len

Just open it in Image Ready.  The animation pallete will show you the individual frames.  Select the one you want to work on.  Watch the layers pallete while you do this.  Notice which layer(s) became visible (the eye icon).  Select the layer you want to work on and "go to town".

Be sure to do a "save as" and give it a modified name so that you don't overwrite your original.  I typically do this right after opening to avoid accidentally overwriting the original.

Should have tried that before I asked.  Thanks very much, worked perfect.
