Title: KUBOTA 14 Amp Alternator (Dynamo)
Post by: Bob Gil on April 30, 2008, 03:55:27 PM
Has any body ever had any dealings with these?

I figured out the problem I was having with the genset a while back i think there was nothing charging the batteries and when they got too low it would shut off.

i got to looking and there was no Alternator (Dynamo) on it and the belt did not have any way to tighten it.  I then found a dynamo (Froze up)  in the storage under the bus wrapped up in some old towels.

It looks to be simple with only bearings that could need to be replaced.  Has any body tried this or is there some thing else I need to worry about?

At about $200.00 for a new I am tempted to try.

Bob,

One way to deal with this is to buy a relatively inexpensive 12V automotive battery charger, then plug it in to a 120VAC circuit that is only hot when the generator is running.  Connect the charger output to the generator battery and you're done.  Probably less expense and work than getting the alternator repaired, installed, hooked up, and running.

FWIW.

i found the bearings for it today for 30.00 I think that will get it done.  I will post when I get it together and find out more.

I have been thinking if worse come to worse i can take the genset out and scrap the bus and I will at least have a gneset to work with when needed.
