Title: Hello, I'm new to the board
Post by: fraser8 on April 30, 2008, 09:15:12 AM
I thought I would jump on in and say hello. Many years ago my wife and I owned a bus and our young family traveled many miles in it enjoying the country. Well I retire next month after almost 30 years as a Paramedic and after dreaming for a couple of years we've taken the plunge and bought another coach. It's the 1972 Prevost that was advertised in Campbell River, BC. It's completely finished but you know how it is we all make them custom changes to suit our quirks. I know there are a few of us busnuts that have quirks, some just don't admit it. I look forward to chatting with you all and someday meeting you on the road or at a get together.   Fraser

Welcome back to the psychosis we all share!  One thing you've got going for you this time around that you didn't the first time is wealth of online resouces available now.  The online busnut family is one of the most supportive and cohesive groups I've ever seen anywhere.

Welcome aboard! As a fan of the Prevost Champion I have seen the for sale pics of that bus. Beautiful! They really did a nice job on the conversion. I am sure you will be happy with it. I was just a lot more then I could spend right now.!

Welcome to the board.  If you are interested take a look at the upcoming events.  We are planning on going to the Texas event later in the summer.  If you are ever in the Oklahoma area let us know we would love to meet you.   ;DHope to see you around sometime.

Thanks, I can see by reading the posts that I'm in the right support group. Pun intended. The buying price was much lower than the asking price, I'm very happy with the purchase we looked around for almost a year. I moved my retirement up a year so we could enjoy it, I wasn't ready to start another conversion, even though I enjoyed working on the first one. Ironically we sold our old coach in 1972 and this one is a 1972, so if I use a time warp we sold the old one and bought a new one. I take delivery next month so be prepared for those questions I can't find the answers for on this page. I'm familiar with rebuilding old cars www.oldambulance.com is my web site, my other sites are www.grannyfield.com and www.coaster2010.com. I need to retire so I can get things I enjoy done. I appreciate the warm welcome, we're in British Columbia so it may take us a while to get to all the events and places. I told my wife we will fill the fuel tank one pension check at a time. We have room on our farm for dry camping if you are in the area. Just a warning we may not be home as the open road will beckon.

I'm in Deroche http://www.ourbc.com/travel_bc/bc_cities/vancouver_coast/deroche.htm But I do live on an Island, Nicomen Island which is surrounded by the Fraser River. Keep in touch Ron we will meet up for sure, keep me in tune of any local bus events I can attend. There is usually one near Midway but I'm unsure of the date.

If you want to stretch the legs on that Quebecois bus and see some northern Saskatchewan scenery, try this:

We'd be happy to have you and what better way to get to know your new toy.

Hi Frasier, my name is Cat and I'm an addict.  I am married to a full fledged bus nut so I have learned to love them also.  We full time and travel around fixing buses for people.  It is the only way to live.  Chime in with your questions, your advice and just plain chatter and know you (and all you quiet newbies) are welcome.
