$4.39 at the cheapy station in California.  This has got to stop.  What company needs to make 10.5 Billion in profits in the first quarter of the year (Exxon/Mobil).  It is affecting everyone, and the entire world economy.  The oil companies are pigs in the worst way.  How many of you would stop driving if the fuel was $10.00/gallon-I know I couldn't-have to go to work. Good Luck, TomC

And of course the OPEC countries are making even more than that.  Then when the UN approached them to help buy food for starving people, they said NO!  Now I'm not a fan of the UN, but I am a fan of helping feed the hungry.  Just wishful thinking, but it would be nice if the UN did what we all know they won't as reaction to this latest snub.  Ban together and match the price of food sold to OPEC nations to the price of oil.  One barrel of crude = one bushel of food.

Again, if oil companies made zero profit the price of gasoline would drop around 30 cents a gallon.  I don't like fuel prices so high, but I realize oil company profits are not the big driver of high prices.

The profit margin for oil companies is on the lower end for all companies.  In dollars their profit is huge because their revenue is high.

Speculators keep buying oil causing the price to go up so more speculators buy pushing the price up even more.  Some of the big investment brokers are predicting $200 a barrel so speculators buy now at $125 in hopes of selling at $200 down the road.

It sure is a pity that the oil companies are forced to take such high profits.  If only there was something they could do about it.  I just drove from 500 miles north to south in CA.  Flying J seemed to have the best price I passed which was $4.39.
