Title: saw a new look that had been converted to a T- drive ....
Post by: zubzub on April 25, 2008, 05:48:52 PM
Was checking out a bus scrap yard the other day...pretty much picked over, but the owner was a nice guy, wealth of info, had worked for "the General" for 20 years, wrenching Detroit Diesels.  Anyhow we were looking around to see if there was an old 6-71 with a belt drive adapter and there was an new look with a t-drive, using a 8.2 4stroke.  Just though it was interesting.  Joe said that the transit authority convereted a bunch of the 2 strokes to the 8.2 4 stroke to save on fuel....don't know much about the engine, but it is interesteing that they managed to stuff a v8 plus tranny plus shaft back there and apperently other than fussy injectors it was a decent and thrifty engine....
oh yeah btw anyone with the belt drive stuff to change a 6-71 shaft drive generator to a belt drive alt feel free to point me in the right direction.  Ciao, Pattrick
