I am very tempted with this one. Phil, the owner is a real nice guy and has done a lot of work on this coach. There is more to do, but this one is sure better than one I went all the way to the middle of Colorado to see. Fist time I ever drove a 3751!!! Terrific experience with that 4 on the tree!!! This coach ran very nicely. Best coach I have driven with a 4 speed when we were shopping for coaches. Worst was an '06 with a 4 speed - awful! Phil has made some fantastic dogs! I am tempted to buy a couple for the '04! He did a beautiful job. I should have snapped a pic of them. This SS is pretty darn straight. Even the rear end is real good. Look at the louvers and the big center round!! Clearance lights appear to be in very good shape. Everything is unique about this coach. Has excellent tires. I think you could fly in here put the dogs on it and if you had a Greyhound cap and clear the deck and put the seats back in, you could probably turn this into a charter as the sign says and make good money! If you rolled the sign to New York, I think you would make it just fine. Bill T.
SWEEEEET..
Bill,
I'm sure you can fit this dog in your yard!
Good Luck
Nick-
I recognize that one...Sold it to the guy Phil Bought it from...and aranged for Phil to buy it from him after he drove it from PA to TX.
Nick, FunnY....as the owners name is Philip Sweet....LOL
Teke,
Phil evidently ran into a fan crash and I think he told me he put in a new radiator and fan. Had some machining done and I think the automatic doo hickey that was on it is gone in favor of a serious fan that will not fizzle. Bill T.
The auction ends either tomorrow night or Monday, so time is running out on this. Teke, what else do you know about this coach? What fuel mileage should this coach get? Phil says 8. I think I can do that with my '06. Bill T.
Saw that on eBay too, I wish I had the extra cash to pick that up, put it back somewhat original and just preserve it. Beautiful bus, I hope someone here gets it!
it is fairly straight. the wiring is original and someone serious should consider a whole rewire.
I thought that it should have had a direct drive fan on it.....not sure what Phil did after his fan incident...likely the hub just came apart.
Honestly in the past 30 years this is the most correct and straight Silversides I have seen other than Greyhounds Restored one.
Paint is decent and is the correct color, Engine was fair in my estimation......but drove it from PA to CA. has been converted to Truck style alternator.
I forget what I sold it for.......Phil paid something like 5k more for it as a bunch of work was done prior to leaving PA and some more in TX before he bought it.
as for MPG...* is probably a good expected average.....might be able to get more out of it......the Silversides is not a light bus iirc.....
I'd say if you have a thing for a silversides......buy it........if your looking for a good conversion.......there is alot better out there that are done and ready to roll
Aint she a Beauty.. :-\
No cash..... :-[
:'( :'( :'(
Well, It looks like she went for $22,000. Auction just ended and hopefully Phil got what the bid said. I personally think all of these coaches sell too cheap when you add up what is in them. Any unit that runs and drives as good as that one does, ought to be worth more. I know there is a member of Western GM that spend endless hours straightening the sides on his SS, and this one miraculously was a 9 out of 10 in my opinion. I hope it stays here locally, as I would like to see it aqain. Bill T.
have suspicions the bid may have been bogus!
Bidder from netherlands....and all previous bidding was for cheap clothing and such. Also 2 negative bids.
That's too bad, either way. If it's Bogus, that's tough for Phil, if it's real, then it would probably leave the country.
That bus needs to be restored to it's Glory, in my opinion.
the problem with restoration of anything older than a 4104 now days is if things are not there...you will likely be fabricating them again as parts buses are few and far between.
