It's my guess we all know someone who will bear a hand once in a while even though they've their own projects and 'Honeydo' lists but on occasion there's someone who will just about drop everything to help a guy out.
Help a guy out...now there's an understatement in this case. let me tell you a story.....
We've been full timing in FL all winter and I've waited 5 months for a two week window where my wife could go and visit her sister about 30 miles from here and give me the chance to install the Mahogany floor in the bus. She went and I started...naturally in the wrong spot...but started. Right at the drivers seat. Now, my MC5 has internal wheel wells which become a PITA but I managed to get just past the front of the first one that day. I might explain that I'm installing the flooring 45 Degrees to the C/L of the bus creating the illusion that it's wider.
I knew I was in deep dodo. This was going to take me all summer. I might add that I'm 72 and have Emphysema
so I take a LOT of breaks. In a conversation with my friend (and for the life of me I cannot understand why I have so many good ones) I mentioned that I was doing the floor and was sort of over my head.
"I can come tomorrow afternoon and give you a hand", my friend said. "Great", I replied and we were on.
I had Cliff's chop saw and another friends' band saw so tools wise we were OK. He came in and looked at what I'd done and said something like, "It's really a big job for one guy. It'll go faster with the two of us". He jumped tight in and started measuring and handing pieces to me through the window and before long we were 2/3's done! And he was doing the gluing as well.....I was taking breaks.
He had something to do the following day but called me that night and said he'd be back the following day about noon but had to be home by 7 that night. We hit it again and finished in time for his commitment with SWWNBD. I tried to pay for his gas, it ain't cheap y'know, and he wouldn't hear of it. and Emphatically stated that if I sent money or anything to the house our friendship would be over. Whatayagonnado with a guy like this?
I'll be more than happy to call him my friend....anytime. By the way....his name is Ace.
Thanks Ace.

It absolutely is! I can say that this week I have been blessed with the presences of Cody & Libby, as well as Mike Hill, and have had phone conversations with Tom (new member / new bus owner from Columbus, OH) and Songman & Don Fairchild, and doggone it I forgot who else it was from the board who phoned me this week for advice and friendly bus stuff chat. (I am really sorry but I can't for the life of me remember who it was, so please forgive me and even feel free to
remind publicly embarrass me if you wish!). It's been a hectic week here and I have drug Cody across the state of KY on Weds. to pick up a wrecked service truck I bought on eBay for the back half to build a service trailer out of, as well as dragging him thru 5 states twice in one day to treat him to a trip to Tunica, MS as my guest on a charter (sorta my way of repaying him for his assistance on Weds.)! And
tomorrow (later today! LOL!) I'm hoping that the 5 of us here at the ranch can pile in the van or trk and make a trip to Lambert's for some throwed rolls! Maybe even take the ferry across the river one or both ways!
So yes Bob, Ace, Cliff, Cody, Mike and all you other busnuts who unselfishly drop what ever your doing to help another......
WAY TO GO!;D BK ;D
And by the way High Tech Redneck, thank you for the notice of my incorrect wording again another perfect example of
SELFLESSLY looking out for each other! LOL!
