Title: I want one of these!!! Who else?
Post by: Songman on April 14, 2008, 03:39:13 PM
I was watching 'Top Gear' recently and after the awful segment on RV racing, they redeemed themselves by showing off this awesome motor home... Fantastic piece of engineering but not a lot of usable bay space when all is said and done...  ;)

It's called 'The Performance' and it's made in Germany.

I came across Teschner a few months and have spent hours since studying photos of their conversions. I wasn't sure if their Prevosts were actually built in Germany or the Las Vegas base converted them there, but either way they are top notch. Personally, for me it's largely a question of style - Newell, Country Coach and the rest just go overboard with trying to add 'opulence' that the end results in a pretty tasteless mash of mirrors, chrome fittings, heavy brocade fabrics and so on. I have a very particular look in mind that I would like to acheive with my bus, and it is the look that Sunseeker powerboats give their interiors - lots of curved wood veneer, rounded corners and edges on everything, plain colours to fabrics & carpets etc - apparently very simple but executed with great skill and the best materials, and very very tasteful.

There was a guy who posted on here a few days ago in reponse to one of BK's posts requesting suggestions for a converter for one of his customers. I forget the name of the company the guy was from, but I had a look on their website and there was a bus on there (red MCI I think) which was exactly the style I want for mine - in fact it had probably the nicest bus conversion interior I've ever seen, and I've spent a lot of time looking at bus conversion interiors!

I'm sorry guys, it just makes no sense at all to me to be hauling around thousands of pounds of granite and tile in a motorhome.

I agree with that, Len, but that seems to be the way all high-end companies do it these days. And don't forget that every wall surface has to be mirrored so you feel like you are not so enclosed. But it seems that most people want it that way. That's why they keep building them that way. People are willing to pay the big bucks for it.

I want to do that to my 4108! But I may have to jack the bus up a bit to get my '56 Chevy under there.  :D  lolol

But boy is that a sweet ride. Granite or not.

Hey Jeremy if you find the name of that company, let me know. I love round corners, curves, etc. (Hence why I like the South West architecture and live in a round house!  ;D)

Maybe my dunbuggy would fit under there..........hmmmmmm.....

I looked it up the company - it was http://www.creativemobileinteriors.com

Here are a couple of pics of their coach interior that I especially liked:

And here are a couple of pictures showing the inside of a Sunseeker:

Se how what I mean about them being a similar style? And to my mind so my classier than the heavy, over-fancy interior of many 'top of the range' RVs. This is the kind of style I am aiming for for my bus - unfortunately I doubt I have the skill to pull it off, but I'll have a go anyway

Jeremy,

FWIW

After looking at the work you did on your slide out such statements
as "unfortunately I doubt I have the skill to pull it off"

Well let's just say it may seem undaunting but from what I have seen of your work you should
have few problems.

I have first hand experience with Creative Mobile Interiors.

In My mind you would be hard pressed to   find a better conversion company, for an entire conversion or retrofit.

They tend to be conservative in design as far as lasting class looking in vogue interiors rather than the Vegas Whore house mirror, rope lighting jobs some of the other big shops pump out.

But they will design to anyones tastes.
