now that i have a ht740 for our mci9 where is rhe best place to buy the shift cable and control handle at a fair price? thanks jim
berrybus have you checked with the guy in Kansas Sam Caylor has used parts
Berrybus, I bought mine from The Parts House Inc in IL. 309-343-0146 I had a shifter I though would work from Ebay. I was wrong. I was able to buy parts from them to make the shifter work on a 740. They made a cable to lenght but I think most big Trans shops will. Good Luck Tom Y
Call Luke, Nimco or Caylor and buy one from a MCI9 fwiw
Well my sometimers is kicking in again, but if you don't have the shifter and cable yet, why don't you go with the electric shifter-then you'll only have to run the wires and not worry about that long cable stretching. Then again, on my old '77 with V730, I have a cable shifter. And while it has some play in it, I have discovered it is in the shifter itself, not the cable.
I GOT IT! The electric shifter is a Stone Bennett. Good Luck, TomC
If you go stock, my preference is the MC8 shifter, not the MC9.
The MC8 has no locking trigger and a gated side rail, neutral in it's own notch, out to the 3-4 in the same plane, a notch to 2nd and a notch to first, so you know which gear you are in without looking, and you don't get it in an unintended position very easily. The MC9 is just a straight shift rail with a squeeze trigger, all the gears and neutral are in the same plane, requiring you to look to know where you are.
This is only important if you shift your own.
Drive and squirt need not worry.
happy coaching!
