I have good luck with the delorme system and my laptop, Dallas introduced me to the delome system and I went to Office Depot and bought the upgraded version for 2008 and it works well, my problem with most of the GPS systems are that I can't see the screen, my dash has a large flat area that is perfect for the laptop and I can see it well.

Hi Dallas,

I bought the Navagon for my dad back in February because he couldn't figure out how to use the

Garmin I bought him for Christmas. He thinks the Navagon is the most simple one he has tried..

Of course, after trying them all myself, I'm still convinced my Pioneer N3 has the cutting edge on features!

Good Luck

... my dash has a large flat area that is perfect for the laptop and I can see it well.

Just remember to pack it and stow it out of sight in California, where using a PC in view of the driver, even for navigation, is against the law.  $370 ticket, last time I looked.

Navigation-only units like Tom-Tom, Garmin, etc, are still legal, as long as they are not affixed to the windshield.  So, no suction-cup mounts in California (also a $370 ticket).  These are both "primary" offenses -- you can be pulled over for them without having to do something else unlawful first.

I'm pretty sure a few other states also forbid general-purpose computer screens in view of the driver, but I don't have the details in front of me.

FYI.

No problem for me Sean... I have our laptop set so that only about 4" shows above the dash.

A polezia car can't see that high anyway.

I managed to fit all 3 hidaway units in the dash area behind the N3. The nav unit, the Xpoint xm/nav traffic unit, and the Ipod interface.

Not a problem, my laptop can't be seen from the front, it's hidden behind my big screen LCD lol.
