just got too busy to post with the "little biggie" trip looming because I had to get the bus in working order after I tore apart the whole front end replacing the flooring and had such little time to do it so I couldn't stop to post although I wanted to but couldn't because I was too busy trying to fix the retarded lug nuts I ruined with the manly man
That being said, can someone explain (real slow) how it is possible to use the OTR (over the road) heat in the morning and the OTR air in the afternoon. Should I be closing and opening valves somewhere? We were barreling down the road through the rain in the morning freezing butt (the heater worked great) .........until the sun poked out and toasted us. ( the air blew heat) We got desperate. (do you have any idea how strange an MC-9 looks with your kids holding the windows open as you rip down the road?)
My system was converted to 134R. Can any residential Heat and Air guy pump in some more coolant, or do I need some special double-secret-probation-dude for the job?

What is that giant valve (beside motor...passenger side...down low) that looks like coolant send and return. Does this need to be shut off for the air to work?

In theory no. there is a electric control valve that if working properly is supposed to keep hot coolant from
entering the heater coil in the fan area in the front bay. I know of people who shut that valve off in the summer
but where we live it can be cool in the mornings and warm in the afternoons. If the heater switch is off and
the temp is turned all the way down you should get little heat through the ducts. If you still are getting heat
then time to investigate. The AC can have its' own set of issues.

I think my coolant is low. I get no reading in the dryer windows. Does anyone recharge their own systems? Pump their own 134? Last time mine was filled was long ago.
I did on my tractors and combines until I got in a rush and blew a high pressure
side hose. (won't do that again)
Not hard but needs to be done right and not in a rush like I get in. You will really need to know the
pressure specs required and possibly a vacuum recovery pump. Some where there used to be a dye that could
be used to find leaks. Probably isn't done that way anymore. I would hate to use a sniffer on all the AC lines on a bus :)
