We are debating all the options for our heating system this time. The replies to the main question brought us to this one.
We have OTR heat exchangers with fans in our Neoplan. We plan on installing a Webasto or Aqua Hot system. It seems redundant to keep these three exchangers and add three more for the Webasto or Aqua Hot. Has anybody married these two systems together? The pumps on the existing system are pretty big, and I can imagine how much they could drain the house batteries.
Any suggestions?

I'm planning to do exactly the same with my system, but I haven't done it yet so cannot say how well it worked. As far as I am aware (it's a while since I looked) the only circulation pump on my system is the mechanical water pump on the engine - so I was going to fit an electrical pump myself, and a valve to allow me to circulate the Webasto-heated water through the engine itself for engine pre-heating. There is already a valve in the system to isolate the 'rear' heat exchangers from the 'dashboard' heat exchangers.

If your bus is like most buses, the heating and cooling system is over designed to stop customer complaints even when the door is open.
Unless you are planning on being in extreme cold climate, you can use smaller heat exchangers and pump(s)
and source their heat from either the engine or Webasto.
There must be lots of threads in the archives explaining how others have done this.
