MAK Busnut Family Members,
This is up to date report from Kyle to Mike Merril about the return trip from Delaware with Kyle's new ScenicCruiser Orphan that runs. The trip has been interesting to say the least, the whole gang is about to stop for the night at a destination unnamed to prevent TV Media Coverage of the trip nationwide.
Kyle will detail all the trip tomorrow after resting he promised. Everyone surely will have a few laughs & insights for us all to consider should we do this also.
Good Luck Kyle and guys, we are all waiting for any and all updates and they will be posted as we receive them. With any luck this will be the only one until they arrive home.
Gary & Mike
This just in on "E" TV
The Paparazzi just photoed the gang headding south bound I-95 getting off an exit in lower North Carolina.
Seems they might be hitting a WalMart.... NO, it's a Stucky's..... ahhhh NO, it's... it's.... it's..... a Cracker Barrel.
With Kyle driving would that "hitting" a Cracker Barrel be literal ?
I'm using the free computer at the Super 8
there were no witnesses to me hitting anything
The trip is taking lots longer than hoped.
I know what happens when you block traffic on the Chesapeake Bay bridge tunnel :o
I now have $350 worth of new 8D batteries :'(
I know what it is like to block traffic in a rough neighborhood that the cops don't respond unless "shots fired" in in the call :o
I now have intimate knowledge of a reverse solenoid :o
I also know more than I wanted to about accessing the starter solenoid. >:(
More later, much, much later
Hang in there Kyle. If it were easy, everyone would own a cruiser. You'll make it. Call me if you need anything. I'm be home til Monday. Be good.

When my wife is in the middle of one of those situations she just keeps telling herself "someday this will make a good story". Since she met me she's accumulated plenty of good stories.

Remember.... it is just a story unless you have the pics! ;)

Here is a tease.

Hi folks, Jack Hart here. We survived the trip, I'll not take anything away from Kyle and let him update later.
I will say this...for someone with limited experience driving 'Cruisers'...damn that boy can drive! Shifting that thing was a breeze for him!
It was an honor to travel with those two!
And I have to admit seeing Ed and Charlie there for a sendoff was really nice of them!
Jack
PS...anyone know how to get 550 miles of 2-stroke fumes out of one eyes?????? ;D

I don't know anyone worth calling a friend that would want to get that out of their eyes. ;D :o 8)
This trip was made possible only because of the 2 guys that went with me. Jack is the best damn travel agent you could have along! He was able to get us rooms where we wanted them & for great low rates too!
Ash knows what is normal from driving his & was able to handle the electrical issues while I dealt with the mechanical issues.
Awesome travel partners. Made the trip worth doing all over again! :o ;D
This bus tracks well & was easy to drive. I'll be needing to add shocks to the list tho . . . . .
Damn, I'd like to have gone on that ride!
Post some more pix! Post the rest of the story!
Kyle, now that you got a Sceni that runs, lose the Airstream..quick!
JR
Damn, I'd like to have gone on that ride!
You were invited ;D
Post some more pix! Post the rest of the story!
You should have been there! Then you would have seen how big an @$# I can be when under stress. :o And taken all the pictures 8)
Kyle, now that you got a Sceni that runs, lose the Airstream..quick!
WHY? It has it's place for certain trips. It also makes a nice mother-in-law suite ::)
It's gonna take a little more time to sort out the details & I have a milling machine to deal with - they were throwing it away & you know how I like 'free' . . . .
BTW, 3800# of cast iron ain't so easy to unload off a trailer when you don't have a lift or crane . . . . But I did & didn't break anything in the process either. :o Yeah, surprised me too! ;)
Hey dude, I saw the trip plan on another thread... or maybe I got confused (what's new).. must have responded on the wrong thread. I didn't know what weekend you were talking about...anyway, you had good help. I'd have been there for moral support. I don't know from Bo about anything GM.
P-Mail me your phone number when you get a minute. I've got it somewhere...? From Palmetto. Or, from when Jon and I surveyed Jerry's C3...Research...?????
On another subject...are you doing two Palmetters this year? Wasn't one in July or so? I've got to get my weekends lined up...or at least block others from taking what I want.
Back to the Sceni, is it useable? Any conversion started? Looks like the upper area has RV styled windows? Hope you gitrdone in time for the summer rallies!
If it made the trip from Delaware, it cannot be but so bad! ;)
Cheers, JR
First week in October is when I have The Cove reserved for the non-rally.
Looking to have a simple gathering the week of July 4th, which will be just independent camping & no pre-planning at all - just hang out with whoever is there. I've used up all my vacation already collecting these last 2 derelict relics :o
She runs, but has a dead cylinder on the drive side, needs a starter solenoid, driver heat, block heater, . . . . . .
Those rv windows are gonna be replaced with the original sliders to make it look better, besides, those aren't installed properly anyways . . .
It's home & all mine & that's all that matters for now. ;D
Here is what it looked like taking a crap on the Bay Bridge Tunnel. :o
Here is a shot of it the following morning about 20 minutes after I started it (The temp was 34F).
"It only smokes a little at startup but clears right up" Yep, sure did after 20 miles or so. . . ;D
No mosquitoes for miles around 8)
Now that's sounds like a trip or 2 that I have made in the past. Exciting memories were made on that trip that will live on.
I'm with JR - got another one planned -- let us know -- we like excitement also -- Being with your crew had to have been a real hoot.
We have everything in place for the follow up to the Timmonsville Rally of year before last.

Enjoying the journey in NC,

Gene,
You done very good with setting up your rally announcements and forms, good luck as I know you guys will all have a great time and (Oh That Barbecue) will be out of this world AGAIN!
I just had to modify this post, Gene, I would suggest you make a separate announcement for a day or so on this board until it is moved about your Important rally. With the fuel cost and everyone disgusted because of the fuel cost I hope everyone that lives within a couple hundred miles of your rally will consider attending and any rallies that are being planned now that the season is on us. Dallas & Cat have a rally coming up very soon also in TN. This is only a suggestion, I wish everyone planning a rally much success this year.
