Title: New "T" drive RTS equipment for NJ Transit.
Post by: roadrunnertex on February 26, 2008, 10:17:58 AM
NJ Transit has 289 new RTS transit coaches built in Roswell,NM with a new "T" drive instead of the old style angle drive.
The engines will be the Cat C9 Engine and ZF HP592 transmission in the "T" drive configuration that was specified for the NJ Transit order.
The buses will have the wheel base shortened and the body modified for the "T" drive power plant and transmission.
This information is from the April-June 2006 Motor Coach Age Magazine.

They ordered them, but the last I had seen, there were financial problems getting production started.  I sure wish they would get that plant up and running.  I love RTS's and Roswell is where I grew up.  When the bus factory (TMC when I lived there) shut down and Levi Straus shut down their plant in Roswell, it took away the econmic backbone of the city. That was when they really started playing up the alien saga.  It's all they have left.
