I came across these this morning. I have always wanted to build my coach with longevity. In the past, I had some concerns about the durability of plastic cable ties. Heat, sunlight, and chemicals will eventually attack plastic. Sometimes, a tie is JUST what is needed. Here is an alternative - stainless steel ties. A little over a dime each. (Unfortunately, I do not have a financial interest, or own this company.)

Looks like a decent price. They are used a lot with exhaust heat wrap.
Thank You Ed,
I am on my way to get some today and when I can get back on Eagle in April I have a use for them in place of what I used in some places.
Thanks again,
Gary
I can see using it on exhuast wrap and other non electrical applications. But even with the purported "rounded edges" I'm not sure I would be comfortable using it on wiring for fear of wearing through the insulation and shorting the wires.
High tech,
Your absolutely correct, my use is not intended on wiring. If I did for any reason I would put several layers of heavy duty fiber type electrical tape on first before applying the stainless support ties.
My use is for air line supports in tight areas, fuel lines in tight areas but will also put a rubber type wrap on first even on these areas of support before assembling the stainless ties. Leaving dangling air lines, fuel lines and all the other stuff not mentioned here now are disgusting to me on my personal bus and I plan to support everything for longevity.
There is many other type of hanger brackets which have plastic coating on them etc. and some with rubber surfaces that can be used to support air lines etc. but not all areas are accessable to mount properly on my conversion. These Stainless ties are good emergency items as well to carry.

Thanks Ed for SS tie wrap source and very reasonable price.
These good very high temp areas such as exhaust wrapping.
It says Cable Ties but never use them over vinyl cover wires...it will in time wear through. Nylon tie's edge gives somewhat while pulling through it a little.
It would have been less confusing to name it "SS Tie Wrap"
There are metal wrap with plastic protector but usually fail due to vibration cracking from anchor end. Replace many of them in the pass.
About tying wrap wires & cables & metal lines in group as well to anchor to the frame.
I have use Ty-Rap® at General Motor Tech many times, which is equipped with SS insert to lock on very strong and hold. Once you pull through no removing back out...it locked. I have used cheaper brand version for temporary areas can be removed without cutting off.

By the way take a look at TY-GRIP™ FASTENERS at the bottom of page...it Velcro®
Sometime I usually wrap around twice to hold group of wires from sliding & uniform shape.

Although I like nylon cable ties for convenience and appearence, I seem to find the using 12 or 10 gauge insulated wire works well and is easy to undo and retie if need be. Is this sac religious ?

Jerry,
I use these all the time, they work good, funny enough though, all my guys hate the pull through part of them.
They kept cutting off the wide part with the slot. I ended up just buying 1/2" Velcro by the roll and let them cut to length..
Ed,
Thanks for the heads up. I am in there all the time and never noticed them.
Lin,
Being a professional wire neat nut, it is sac religious ;), but is exactly what I do during the temp part of any wiring jobs, and they work just fine.

The black plastic zip ties last much longer than the white or clear. I have used thousands of them exposed to the elements and they last a lifetime. Pretty cheap too.

If You use cable ties from har har frt or sams etc You will always have early failures. Buy panduit, thomas and betts or in short usa commercial products and they will last a lifetime. Just My exp and .02. John aka junkman
