Title: Now We Have Kittens
Post by: HB of CJ on February 11, 2008, 02:22:02 PM
Was sweeping out the insides of the stripped interior Crown Super Coach and thought we heard something under the floor.  Crawling under the coach revealed four (4) very young kittens in the corner of the radiator duct work between the radiator and the large, lethal, suction fan.  Had this problem before.  Now what do we do?

Mommy cat was nowhere to be seen.  Had we started the bus up, one can imagine what would have happened with the formentioned kitties being sucked thru the fan blades.  First it was mice, then snakes, (big un's!) then pack rats, then wasps, now kittens!  Could have been worse---with skunks!  Are we having fun yet?  :) :) :)

We removed the four kittens.  About two months old.  Two black and two gray.  Used a live neck grab noose thing, welder gloves and of all things a motorcycle helmet with a clear full face shield.  Wild little devils.  Once they were contained in a deep box they settled down, but would still not let us touch them.  Sorry mommy cat.  Had to deliver them to the local pound as the County no longer picks them up.  Guess it could have been worse--could have been five baby skunks---again.  Knda rural SW Oregon.  :) :) :)

Glad to hear you were able to get them out.   I hope they find homes!

I had a 1970 C-10 pickup truck with a built small block that I started late one night.  Unfortunately, a small kitten had snuggled up to the warm engine earlier in the evening.  Poor think got sucked through the fan belt and actually knocked the belt off the pulleys.  Of course I shut off the engine, which at the time I thought I had just blown something up.  Popped the hood to find a scared to death ball of fur.  Picked the poor little guy up and he had a couple bald spots, other than being a little worse for wear no broken bones or ANYTHING!  Kept him inside for a couple days to keep an eye on him but fortunately he was good to go!  Amazing that a tiny animal could knock a belt off and still survive.
