I want to put in a pair of Grote Hi-count LED turn signals in my 04. They are 4" but are thicker then the original set up. The ridge on the face is not quite right to seat in the trim ring. The spring clips cannot lock the lamp into the trim ring, it keeps sliding around. Have any of you worked this problem out? Were you able to use the original trim rings? Anyone got any ideas to make these work short of just siliconing the lamps into the trim ring?
John,
I assume you mean the front turn signals?
Find out from your light source how the lights are mounted in other applications and you might be able to adapt that mount to yours.
Hey Gus. Yep, forgot to mention it is the fronts. NAPA has the LED lamps on sale, and they are nice and bright. Plus i will be able to wire them up as marker lights also. I never thought to ask them what kind of mounts they have for them. Why do i always start these darn projects a few days before i want to leave?
Are you referring this style:

If so...purchase the plastic or metal housing to match len and cut out behind to fit over old one. Metal one is better so you can bend it for mounting tab after cutting.

Hi Jerry. The link to NAPA goes to a locked site. I went to the NAPA site and tried to find the light i want to use but the connection failed for me!!! So anyway, the light i want to use is a pretty standard 4" lamp that measures about 2" deep, it has sockets for a 3-wire pigtail. Are you talking about the mounting ring that is a flat flange about 1" wide" I was hoping to keep the stock looking trim ring look.
