Hi Guy's,
You gotta watch this video. DD 6V92 400+hp for a flex. Very Cool! Jay even drives it in the last one...
This is Jay's mechanic's bus, Bernard.

Nick-
Amazing what a pumped up (by Detroit) 425hp @1350lb/ft torque 6V-92TA with a huge radiator will do (or better put-what money will buy). Good Luck, TomC
Is the 92 a 2 or 4 stroke?
Jack
That Flx seems to be a different kind of project for Leno. Usually, he does authentic restoration on vehicles. I don't think he pushed up the steam pressure on his steamer :)
Now jay is trying to be like "huggy Bear". Hope he can get a BIG radiator in a flex. but the power is great
just don't like buying new heads every year.

Writers strike, that's a rerun and I'm sure the engine was probably given to them.
Got a big kick out of Bernard's comment in clip #3 when Jay's trying to open the window to get some "air conditioning".
Bernard replys that he thinks "the warranty's expired on that one."
Great comeback line!
Isn't it nice what $$ can do?
FWIW & HTH. . .
;)
Pics...
Wonder how he got the driveline to work out. Didn't have much of a driveshaft length to start with. Guess now I will read the other posts. One cool lookin' Flexie...brings back great old memories...Yosemite National Park...1970 & 1971. :) :) :)
From the looks of the "interior", I don't think this one is for Jay's use. My guess, his mechanics will travel in this to the many, many, many shows and auctions that Jay and his posse attend.
That's a cool ride though!
that FLX has nothing to do with Lenno other than belonging to his mechanic Bernard, who's built it to pull a car trailer transporting his race car to the tracks ... also it's not really a Starliner, which has a short eyebrow window half way back like this (http://www.agassiztrading.com/photos/PHOTOS-SPECIAL/57-FLXIBLE/starliner-bw.jpg), it's actually a Visicoach

It appears that in the 60's, Flx changed that.
1965 Starliner (http://busexplorer.com/PHP/MidPage.php?id=1005)
1967 Starliner (http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/memberprofile/mid/14334252)
As I understand it Flxible made 248 Starliners. However they did not keep records on how many got the 'eyebrows'. Some folks think about 40 of them with the 'eyebrows'.
For what it's worth!
Jack
well, wouldn't be the first time I'm wrong, I guess the 'torsilastic' suspension was the model identifier .... but credit for "Lenno's" bus still needs to go to Bernard, although I suppose the money came from paychecks Lenno signed ;)
Bill
Correct, the Eyebrow windows were only on the first starliners produced. the remainder had an entirely higher profile the length of the roof
