Title: NO-GO Bus Rally 2008
Post by: Dave Siegel on January 31, 2008, 05:32:26 AM
In a previous post Paladin created a post looking for the Best and Worst looking buses of 2008. I have a great extension to that idea, I think.

I will make space on my website for the first ever "NO GO BUS RALLY" Here's the way it will work; You submit pictures to me that I will post on my website. If it doesn't get out of hand I will try to keep the buses in categories. (The more pictures that you submit, the better the attention you will get on the site.)

Maybe we can talk MAK or some other vendor to provide a prize for the "BEST OF THE NO SHOW".

Maybe Nick, Phil, Dallas and I could be the final judges.

Under each picture I will put a "Vote For Me" button, each viewer will have to push a "Submit" button and I will get the score. I will keep track, and keep the Board Moderators informed of the progress of the scores.

We could keep this going until the summer and then proclaim the winner. We could have a Best Of Class and then Best of Show, plus a Worst of Show.

I think it would be a fun way to show off your buses and your features. I have plenty of space and there would  "NO CHARGE" of course.  We might offer some incentives and trinkets like Tee Shirts and Dash Plaques that would be for sale.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for the support Nick. I think the first thing we need is a couple of prizes or at least a promise of a prize. Can you handle that, or find someone that will?

Dave,
I like your idea. As for prizes, I will offer a Bussin' 2008 rally fee to the winning bus. We will make it a feature coach at the rally.  Jack

PS: Paula & I will not be able to go to the rally at Palmdale next weekend. I have to repair a tag axle air bag support beam on our bus. Eagles are not the only buses with rust issues!

Thanks Jack, that's a great prize. I was thinking maybe we could get Alan to make the Tee Shirts showing the Best of on the front and the Worst of on the back? Plus put all or any of the sponsors on the sleeve (s).

We will miss you this week end.

Nooooooooo.... that's not how it works. No self proclaimed winners, sorry.

I will create the pages in a few days and I will announce the registration date right here on this board. There will be an address for you to link to. There you will be able to view and submit your photos. There will be a score and submit button the winners will be decided early summer.

Dave -

Me thinks we need clarification of the "No Go" portion of this proposed rally.

Does "No Go" mean that physically nobody is going anywhere, just submitting pics online?

Or does "No Go" mean that our coach is physically incapable of moving under it's own power at this time, and appropriate pics are to be submitted for judging?

Minor details. . .

;)

The No Go Bus Show and Rally is very simple;it is not necessary to make it complicated.

You don't go any where.
Your bus does not go any where.
You do not spend any money.

You do submit photos of your bus with info about each photo.
You must be the owner of the bus in the photos submitted.
The bus does not have to run. So you don't have to start the bus at all.

A winner in each class will be announced. (GMC, Prevost, MCI etc.) (There will also be an award for Worst of Show)
Best Of Show will be judged over all the Class winners and that coach and owner will win some prizes (to be announced)

It's that simple.

My web site is not ready to receive applications yet, but I will be ready in a few days. I will announce when the start date will be right here on this board.

Does this mean if I enter my Dina that I win automatically if no one else enters a Dina?  I'm not aware of any other Dinas around here, but there might be someone else out there.

Now, I'm just kidding as I don't think it would fair to win a category by default.

Winning is what counts, not how you get there......

Thanks sounds really bad doesn't it......?

My Problem is, my bus is so ugly it would come in second in an ugly contest if it was the only contestant!   :o ::)

Brian don't forget that there was another Dina at our 2007 Bus Bash! Belonged to Wulf somebody and his girlfriend, and was pretty good looking from what little I saw of it as it came in while I was out on a charter. I saw it parked by the drive when I came in during the middle of the night, but it was gone b-4 I got up the next day! Of course it may not still look as nice as I thought for 3 reasons!
#1) It was dark when I came in and I was dead beat tired!
#2) It was a Dina. (but of solid color! LOL!)
#3) It was also the coach that backed over the guide wire to the power pole (twice) & over Don Fairchilds truck (twice also!) LOL! so who knows what it looks like now! If I remember correct Dallas saw where it sold on ebay not to long after that!

I'm hoping for a pupposefully created class that is so specific that I'll be the only one in so I can win. If I'm the only one in my class and I lose, I'm buying a S&S and giving up. Doug
