I have a chance to pick up an Onan 7000 Marquis generator(gas and about 10 years old) for $100 as it doesn't work. Apparently the motor is fine but it needs new winding and the cost from Onan is astronomical(surprise-surprise). I already have an even older Onan generator that runs on propane but is not an RV type so is very noisy.
According to the tech most of the cost of repairing the Marquis is in labor to dissassemble and re-assemble.
Is it feasable to mate my old generator head and electrics with the Marquis engine etc. or would I be better off just getting the Marquis fixed. Does Dinosaur make controller boards for this thing.
Thanks
Fred Mc.

I would think and I could be wrong That the generator head and electrics does not care where the HP.and RPM's come from
The throttle control is what might trip up the change of motors
