Title: Pics from the Quartzsite Eagle gathering
Post by: Songman on January 22, 2008, 04:31:49 PM
I've set up a little flash web page to show the Eagle pictures I took at the recent Quartzsite rally. We had a great time and met lots of great folks. These buses were fantastic! Really got me Jonesing to get on the road.

Thanks to everyone for the hospitality and putting up with my dumb 'how did you do that' questions.

I think the page is pretty self-explanatory. You can scroll through and see each photo. If there is one you would like to save, just click on the big picture and it will open a larger jpg in a new window. I do have hi-res pics of each if anyone is interested. Just ask.

Songman,
What a great job you did showing the beautiful places where Eagles Fly.  I enjoyed your site, take more if and when you can.

Tell Don I am waiting on that return email when he gets the chance but with him being in Eagle Town this week I don't expect it.

Gary,

We're home and back in business. I'll tell Don that you are watching your e-mail.

I plan to go to Pomona and Hemet to the upcoming gatherings. More photos will come. More interior shots too. I was so in awe of these coaches that I forgot to take pictures when the owners were showing me around.

Songman -

Nice work.  Aren't digital cameras neat?

I really like the look of the two-axle Eagles. . . One of those would be my preference if I were to move over from my 4106.

I see there were a couple of 4104s in amongst the Birds.  Did you by chance wander over to the GMC group that was next door and take some pics?

Enquiring minds want to know. . .

Glad you & Don had a good time.

;)

Songman,

Absolutely grand!  What a post.  Thank you.  I didn't think there could be that many outstanding Eagles in the country.  Thanks again for sharing this.

Russ,

We drove through the area where the GMs and Flexibles were parked but we were kinda in a hurry and didn't get to walk around and take pictures. There were some beautiful rigs in there!

That one single axle that I took a couple of pictures of was actually an Eagle 35-foot production motor home chassis. Very slick!

Is that 35 footer the people from Springfield Mo.? I think I was parked next to it at Branson Eagle rally once? - Beautiful Coach - as are the above - Nothing finer than the classic profile of a fine Eagle when restored and freshly skinned and painted -

Niles, I don't remember where the people in the 35 were from. Looking at the front plate on the bus, the colors are correct to be Missouri so it probably is.

Many years ago when I lived in CA I went to several Eagle rallies including some at Quartzite and I also belonged to the Eagles International group publication.  There was one couple that had a converted 35 ft. Eagle and as i recall it was called a Suburban model. It was a two axle vehicle. Only a few were ever manufactured. The wife was the secretary for several years I believe. I do not know if the publication is still in existence, but if it is it is a good group to belong to.

Yes Richard, this was the Eagles International meet. They are a good group.  I had met some in person and knew some through online activities, but I got to put names, faces, and buses together this past weekend and it was great! I am not yet a member of the club but they welcomed me in and made me feel at home (even though we were riding in Don's Country Coach instead of my Eagle). In my opinion, anyone who owns and Eagle should belong to this group. They are a great bunch and are very helpful to each other and to anyone else in the hobby.

Yeah, the single axle is called a Suburban. That's right.

See Rusty's post for more information about Eagles International. He is the new president-elect of the club.

That two axle Eagle belongs to Lee and Donna Thomas.  The live in Lee's Summit, MO.

I can't say what the model is, but it is a 102 wide, 35 foot.  As was mentioned, it was made as motorhome chassis and had the factory raised roof as I recall. Lee bought it new and had it converted.  I think he said that he picked it up at the factory.  It is a great bus.,

BTW, we are still at the rally site and I can't find any significant signs of rust piles ;)

It was my pleasure, believe me! You guys just need to start making plans to make the next one in Branson. Hopefully lots of more Eastern buses will be able to show up.

Will, I enjoyed your site. Pretty cool to have an author among us. I'll check out some more of your titles later.

Thanks Songman, it's really my pleasure to have found this site. Unfortunately, it seems now I spend more time reading posts than I do applying my trade LOL. That 'Total Time Logged In' thing is a real eye opener :o ;D

Hi Dale.

There are three of us left, and the O'Neills are leaving tomorrow.  We will be heading to Yuma on Friday.

Thanks for the great photos!

Got to meet up with LarryH today and will have coffee with RJ(Bob) Evans tomorrow.

Been a fun week!

Jim

The single axle Eagles (Suburban) were mostly 40 footers. Mine is in my avitar. There were some 35's but mostly 40's.
