My onan generator leaks oil and then shuts down.
it is in my other bus, 1976 GMC motorcoach (palm Beach)
I replaced the filter and oil tightened all screws/bolts in that area.
I can't tell where exactly the oil is coming from because of all the shrouding and the fan blowing it all over.
The generator has a little over 900 hrs on it.
I thought maybe some one would have an idea where to look, before I tear into it.
this is mounted on a slide, are these prone to craking?
Also how many hours of life do these gas units last.
thanks,
John

Many times it's the "OIL PRESSURE SWITCH" that leaks like crazy on those old "works in a drawer Onan's in the Classic GMC motothomes. The fan then blows it everywhere. These unit are almost impossible to kill.
Give JIM BONDS a call - He been repairing/renovating Classic GMC Motorhomes for years and years - in Orlando Florida

I had one - loved it - still has a huge "cult" following - just got too small for me and the wife - "26' footer"
Now I have it's big little brother - a 35' RTS see-->http://community.webshots.com/user/hawk_ii

My old 5.5 Onan did the same thing. I finally decided it was at the line separating the crankcase from the cylinders and that it was shaking itself apart there. I have never seen a two cyl engine that shook and vibrated like that thing.
I couldn't stand it, I replaced it with a Honda water cooled 6K that is almost silent.
