Is this concidered a use of an old bus? or a use of an old dog?

OK I guess you call that a basement expansion, or maybe a swimming pool expansion?!?!?! LOL! I wouldn't necessarily call it a storm shelter with the missing windows and exposed metal roof. I do know a guy not far from here that did bury a Chevy Astro van into a hill leaving the solid (no windows as a matter of fact they took out all the glass and welded steel plates in place of it giving it a secure seal) rear doors as an entrance. He even went as far as moving the battery to a plastic battery box below the rear bumper with an access door and changed it out to an 8D he got from me he keeps it hooked to a battery maintainer and has it wired to the alternator & hooked to a power inverter suppling power into the van! Has it vented as well. He even relocated the gas tank filler neck at the rear in the access panel where he can refill the tank. it still has the engine & trans intact but the drive shaft was cut at the yoke and replaced with a pulley set up that drive a spare alt, a fresh water pump (draws water from the well for the engine cooling & a sink), a fresh air pump system that can be opened or closed, and a PTO shaft for any other need he my come up with in the future! He ran the exhaust well away from the van and the fresh air intake for the engine & the interior air! The van has the original radio, heat & A/C still working. It was a conversion Van at one time and has the front swiveling captains chairs, and the 2 swiveling chairs behind them also. On one side of the van at the rear he built a cabinet that holds a mini fridge, a Coleman cookstove, and a small sink, and food storage area! the other side has a bench seat that unfolds out into a bed! He has added outside radio, CB, scanner, & TV antennas wired into the van, and as a conversion it already had a TV/VCR & CB mounted in an overhead console. It's not as large as a bus, but as he said it's just him & his tiny wife and maybe an occasional guest or grandchild that may have to run to it (about 20 feet from their back porch) during a bad storm! Of course his wife says thats where he goes and hides or naps when he is supposed to be doing chores! (Huh one thing he didn't put in it is a phone and says his cell phone doesn't work well in it usually! I wonder if this is on purpose? LOL!)

I think this is a picture from the old Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Tx. I seem to remember seeing pictures similar to this at the time.

(I've lived in central IN, OK, AR, & TN all commonly known as tornado alley! Especially OK & IN! But here in TN we been gettin slammed pretty hard the last five yrs or so!)
Tornado would have to pull that school bus out of the ground before roof will come off.
One thing they are, and that is solid. Ask a firefighter who has tried using the hydraulics on one...
