As part of the Bus N USA rally in Rickreal, Or next year, Dick Wright has negotiated a free tour of the Marathon facility on Wed prior to the main rally. Marathon is in Eugene, and is only an hours drive away from the rally itself. I think it should be a fun addition to see up close how and what they do.
That sound interesting .... A couple of years ago the wife and I stop to fuel up just down the street from the Marathon plant and there was a brand new H3 triple slide coach (I think it was the first one they built) fueling up, it had just come off the line. The wife went over and ask if we could get a tour and the guy said sure ... I have to say wowwww ... what a beautiful coach ... the wife loved everthing about it, expect the price tag ... I think it was around 2 mil.

While getting my rig serviced last month at the Prevost delarshipo, there was a brand new H3 motorhome shell, triple slide in one of the shop bays. They were removing the over the road air for country coach. I think they mentioned that the bare shell was about $800,000. What a pretty coach though....
Makes me think that several years ago whan MAK was selling that almost new MCI coach they had used to advertise Cingular ( or some other cell phone provider) for around $250k, that it was a real steal.
About 15 years ago I purchased a coach from the Marathon used coach lot (DML). Although Marathon had not competed the conversion I understand that the family that did the conversion was actually part of the initial Marathon conversion family. I received a very complete tour of the then current facility and it was absolutely amazing what they were then doing.
I was in the area a few years later and stopped in for another visit and was again invited to a plant tour. The changes and upgrades they had made in five years was really impressive. At that time I think a new conversion was in the $500K range. I would really like to see the changes they have made in the past ten years and the price quadrupled.

A good tour do it and you will see all the Home Depot boxes around that they charge 5 times over what they pay .charged me a 165.00 for cellular antenna from radio shack (my fault on that one)Like Jim said 800,000 for a 400,000 shell but its a good tour and they have hook ups
