what is the typical width of an rv hallway and width of a shower stall used in a bus I'm trying to put bunk beds on 1 side and a bathroom on the other side including shower in an mc12 bit tight to say the least
don't know off hand but easily done.
I would not be planning on using a standard house width mattress though.
i was thinking 36" mattress???
Don't know what a "standard" would be, but I'm using a 32" Neoplan shower base, with a 26" hallway. Linen and hanging closet are across the hall from the shower. Pretty standard for RVs.
We're using a "walk-thru" bath design. Makes for a roomy bath area...relatively.
I've got a dimensionally similar bus to yours...an MC9.
IMHO, unless you are custom building a bunk for a child, there's not enough room to oppose the shower and adult sized bunks.
The shower could be placed at the end of the bunks since they would be about the same width. Then bias your hallway to the other side. Turn the potty sideways, small RV bath sink and you'll get those items (and potty privacy wall) opposite the bunks. Just watch where the pot ends up...cannot be above any components that a 3" hole cannot be drilled through...such as frame members and bay walls.
You may get around this with one of the tiny RV tub/shower combos. But you'd have to be a narrow family to enjoy such an arrangement. Wifey and me are little peoples and the 32" Neoplan is tight for shared showers. ;D But it works OK.
May I suggest a trip to the RV sales lot...or an RV show. You'll find an arrangement you can live with I garuntee. Just copy an RV. Looking at an RV will give you perspective. Take a measuring tape. Another item for consideration is entertainers. Problem is most entertainers are 102" coaches. Makes a difference. Still, they'll have a bunk layout. Not sure where to find a floorplan of an entertainer?
Happy building! JR
I built a side aisle configuration, with a 36 inch square shower, 24 inch wide vanity, and 22 inch wide aisle.

Sidney OH? Were almost neighbors.
I wanted a 36" shower and arranged it to fit, actually no problem, it worked well with my floor plan.
I wanted to keep the shower head as close to the center of the coach as possible for headroom. A 30" would have given me more storage between the shower and the wall but the elbow room was more important.
I saw several 30" and I believe a few 32" shower stalls.
A lot depends on your chassis, 96" or 102" wide. Mine is 102" and after 2" of insulation (1.5 in the wall and 1/2" on top of that) and 1/4" panelling on each wall I have exactly 96" between the walls. My flooring was in 4 X 8 sheets and were a perfect fit.
My bath is 4' by 6'.
My hall is 2' and a closet across the hall from the bath is 2'. Minus the wall thickness, 2" ea.

I looked at a MCI 96A3 last year.
It had a center aisle and side bath with one bunk across from the lav...was three bunks but was retrofitted to storage.
A 36" mattress might be difficult to find in an innerspring. Twin mattresses are 38" wide. Custom innerspring mattresses are made by removing rows of coils and they aren't 2" diameter except maybe a premium mattress. I believe my twin XL mattresses are 34" wide.
I have eight bunks for adults and needed every bit of the 8" I gained by not using standard mattresses. I bought one mattress before I built the bunks so I knew exactly what size to make the bunks.
I have a 102 wide that gives me on the fat side of 8ft interior width. Starting on the drivers side, 24" cabinets for reefer, washer/dryer and hanging closet; 24" wide hallway; 36" square shower stall; 12" between the shower stall and passenger side wall for linen closet. Like the setup so much, will use it in my next RV (probably Freightliner truck based this time). I like the totally enclosed bathroom. Good Luck, TomC
Standard bunk mattresses are 34"x75" although you can get other sizes. I'm doing the same thing you are, Austin. Instead of using a shower stall, I plan to build a square shower using tile. Look at Gumpy's websites. His is similar. I am figuring I would like a 36" square shower and the remainder of the width would be the hallway. Depending on wall widths, it should be close to 26-28 inches.
Here is an link to some bunk mattresses on eBay.

Standard twin is 39" wide. Put two of the extra long twins together and you get an east coast King which is 78" x 78". Other standard bed sizes-
Twin- 72 x 39
Double- 75 x 54
Queen- 80 x 60
Calif King- 84 x 72
Course- you can always use good quality foam to create your own size. I used 5 inch high density foam for my dinette and 6" foam for my pull out sleeper sofa that makes into a 80 x 60 bed. Good Luck, TomC
When I set up temporary bunks in one of my buses,
I bought 2 folding beds. The ones with the aluminum frame, The mattresses on many of those are 30 inches wide by 72 inches long.
They are foam type mattresses and I still have them in the back of my box truck cab area. I suppose that someday I will either use them again or maybe someone might have a use for them.
