Title: Ecostar Inverter
Post by: Kenny on January 04, 2008, 10:14:48 AM
Anyone ever used an Ecostar inverter. An outfit on Ebay has them listed at a very cheap price. Claim they are pure sine wave at 4.5KW - 24volt input.

I've never heard of them.

I'd shy away from anything that was purpose built for vehicles or boats ( or aircraft if you can afford that type)

The ecostar is made by Ballard Power Systems, a well regarded company in the cogeneration, back up power and fuel cell industry.

I take it back.... Ballard makes the ecostar inverter for very high power applications but the EcoStar is apparently some one else..,.no opinion on that.

Ecostar inverters (http://www.ecostarsolar.com/45kw_pure_sine_wave_inverte.html) are good, aimed initially for fixed [home] solar applications, but anywhere 24V is used, and are pure sine wave ... that starting price is about 50% of retail
