From the for what it is worth department . . . The E-Place has 'Allegedly' new diesels, (hence the subject) 6V53 - 6-71 - 8V71 under military vehicles.

Yes, I know, what is a Bus NOT doing in the military area . . . chalk it up to varied interests.
Have fun all.

ps: For what it is worth, I continue to enjoy the . . . "Banter", thoughts, ideas et. al. Now if I were only have as smart as I think I am . . . but wait, I wouldn't be trying to learn about buses !
pps: All this silly nonsense between the GM and MCI folks over the "Best" bus(es) is quite simply nonsense. Any educated, thinking individual knows that the best bus(es) ever made were Flxibles ! (Now that should get some dander moving ! )
Following up on the link REK provided, it looks like the following:
The 8V71 is new, with 0 hours. According to the model number, it's an "industrial" RH rotation, turbocharged (altho the turbo's been removed), with the missing starter and oil cooler on the left side (when viewed from the flywheel end - curbside on a T-drive bus). Item # 320201160291
The 6-71 is rebuilt with 0 hours. According to the model number, it's an "industrial" RH rotation, 4-valve head, non-turbocharged, with the missing starter & oil cooler on the right side (street side in a T-drive bus). The big CAVEAT here is that the description says "Counter clockwise rotation" - so the question is whether or not the rotation's been reversed from what the model number says. Item # 320201175675
I've sent the seller an email asking about which injectors each engine has, that will help determine the HP ratings, and about clarifying the rotation on the 6.
FWIW & HTH. . .
