Title: Broken down-need part
Post by: eagle10 on December 23, 2007, 11:57:52 AM
I am on my way to Jack's meet and have a broken turbo header pipe on my 1984 Eagle 10 6V92 turbo. I will call Jefferson Bus tomorrow if they are open and have it over nighted. It is the driver's side one with the flexible middle section. I tried all day yesterday to put some parts together for a temporary fix. No luck because of the holidays. QUESTION? Are there any other places to call for the part if Jefferson is close on Monday? E-mail {kristy.dawes@att.net} [1700 miles to go]

E10,

Where are you?

There are a lot of different options available. It doesn't have to be an Eagle proprietary part.

Let us know, maybe someone close to you can help.

Eagle10, go to a truck muffler shop and they can make you a new one if not try a DD dealer. If your bus has a rear mount turbo the best and fastest way is to have one made. i don't believe Jefferson will be any help on that pipe

How about a stainless band clamp, used for truck exhaust, as a temp fix?
It contours to the pipe a bit , as you tighten it up.
Where did pipe break - at corrugated part?

Thanks for the quick replies. I am not on the side of the road but made it to my daughter's house near Portland, Maine. The flange end broke off and when I removed it the other end was partly broken. I tried Detroit Diesel, welding shops, and truck shops. They are all closed till next Wednesday because of the holidays. I tried the band clamp idea, also could not get it welded because of the rust. I replaced this same pipe five years ago and the other side four years ago. I got them both from Jefferson Bus. I hope they still have some. Question: Other  places to call tomorrow if Jefferson is closed that may have the pipe. Thanks.

Give Dick Lamb at Custom Land Yachts a call, he will know everyone in that area that can help.
He's in Windham #(207) 892-3885.
You can also try Walt at NAPA in Windham, ME. # (207) 892- 3221.

Both of them have helped me in the past. I stop in to see them every time I go to Maine.

You might find something here =

I don't know if the pipe from a MC-9 would be the same as the one you need. Flanges might be??
Cut and weld to make pipe you need??
Just more ideas for a possible repair........ :)
