Title: DD-3 Brake question
Post by: Lin on December 18, 2007, 10:09:36 AM
We changed the DD-3 brake chambers this weekend, but I want to be clear about something.  I was told to make sure that the drain port faces down.  There was also mention of an exhaust port that should face down.  Are these the same thing?  I could not find any open ports on the one's we took off.  There were two small ports that had plugs in them, and I was told that one of those (the one facing down) should have had the plug removed.  My manual clearly says to face the drain downward, but does not say anything about an exhaust.

Lin, I believe they are one in the same.  I wouldn't unplug any ports until you're absolutely sure of what you're doing. Don't know what model you have, that info would help...but I found out on my MC5A that the rears are definitely lleft and right...not interchangeable.

With luck, Buswarrior will jump in here and help clear up your dilemma.

They are configured differently for each side. I can't be positive, but I think this is it - if I remember right it's about 1/2", and I think there was a little rubber piece in there, but sure don't remember exactly.

Sorry, but that's the best photo I have of it.

Thanks, the info and photo will be useful.  They came marked for left side and right side, but it seemed that what I thought was the exhaust port ended up in the one o'clock position on the right side chamber.  I will compare it to the picture when it dries up here.  By the way, mine is also an MC-5a
